Atlas takes us on a ride through the desert under Moroccan skies, into the Atlas mountains where the goat gut strings of the fretless guimbri instrument are plucked around the fire. Supported by Moog synth bass and a thick backbeat, the gallop of the metal castanets (qarkeba) and ney flute carry the dancers into a whirling, ecstatic trance state where healing is found. Kick off your shoes and crank it up! Dirtwire is a traveller’s collage of instruments and electronic production foraged from Coachella to the mountains of Tuva. Far from home, these troubadours are welcome for the most important language they speak: music.
